When you see a motorcycle rider
do you feel uneasy and want to kind of stay as far away from them as you can?
Especially
if they are wearing all that black leather, (jacket, chaps and boots)?
Makes
them look kind of scary and rough doesn't it?
We have all heard of
motorcycle gangs and when something bad happens that they are involved in the media and news jumps all over it.
The problem is that not all bikers are this way, matter of fact most bikers are just
everyday ordinary people like yourself who enjoy riding motorcycles as a hobby or in their spare time.
Then you have some that are Christian Witnesses for the Lord and they have been called to do
it on a motorcycle.
They are no different than the preacher, evangelist,
Sunday school teacher, deacon, elder or anyone else in the local church.
They
just don't do it inside a building they usually do God's work out under the beautiful heavens that shine so brilliantly
above us.
My point being, we at the Jesus Riders Ministry
started our focus on witnessing to bikers but we are everyday folks just like you.
I am a Tool and Die Maker by trade (Machinist). I run machines that cut steel. My wife is a Mary Kay Consultant.
Big Dave is a Farmer (Not just any Farmer
but a Chicken Farmer and for a trial he's going through click here now and read about the Hen House Caper) and his wife is a bank administrator.
We live our lives
just as you do. We have struggles, heartaches, disappointments and trials just like anyone else.
We just choose to let God deal with them through our faith in Him just as most of you do.
We fall short of God's expectations of us and sin like everyone else, Christ was the only perfect one that I
know of so we repent daily for our shortcomings.
In our Jesus
Riders Ministry we have spoken to church groups, youth organizations, prisons, on TV, on radio, helped at motorcycle
rallies and we have even driven 1000 miles to speak to a single mom and her teenage daughter.
We are evangelist, we are teachers, we are listeners, we are speakers, we are comforters, we are helpers, but most
of all we are God's servants to be used in any way He sees fit.
It
is not our job or calling to force the Word of God on anyone, it is our job or calling to be available and obedient so that
when God sends someone our way we will be prepared to help them in whatever situation they may have.
When you see a cross it usually means someone is there to help, like the Red Cross,
FEMA, Disaster Relief, Children of the World and many other groups that try to help those in need when unforeseen
situations present themselves.
These organizations have dedicated their
time and resources to help people like you and me get some kind of order back after something devastating has happened in
our lives.
They may furnish food, water, clothing, shelter and many other
necessities that we need just to exist in this world today.
Most of these
are great organizations and do a fantastic job with what they have to work with.
The main thing they are trying to help others in need...
Look at it this way when you need help they are there to try and meet your basic physical needs. On the other hand
we are there to try and meet your basic Spiritual needs.
When you see
that cross on our leathers it is the same as seeing the cross of the Red Cross Organization, it tells you there is someone
here that is willing and trying to help but not only to meet your physical needs but your spiritual ones as well.
How many times have you just wanted to get something off your chest but
had no one to go to?
How many times have you
run into situations that you needed to talk to someone other than family or friends about?
How many times have you wished you had someone to talk to that would really listen
to you without judging?
We are not the Red Cross
but we are the Jesus Riders and we are here to help and listen without judging, that is left to
a higher power than us.
So when you see that cross on those black leathers
it's saying we'll help if you let us.
With this being said the
next time you see a biker and they may have a Cross on the back of their leather jacket don't be afraid, walk up and talk
to them if you need help.
I know they'll be glad to meet you.
If you happen to see one of us (The Jesus Riders) I know
we would love to talk with you. Like I said we are listeners and if you feel like just getting something off your chest we
are here.
God says to love your neighbor as yourself so if we can help
in any way let us know.
Remember a motorcycle is like any other tool
that can be used to glorify God and give Him Praise,
If you happen to
see us traveling the highways and byways introduce yourself because I know if Big Dave or myself see you first we'll have
our hand out saying Hello!
